There has been some positive news for Tottenham Hotspur fans on Tuesday afternoon, after the club announced that budging talent Josh Onomah has singed a contract extension that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2019.
The young winger has recently been involved in Mauricio Pochettino's first team plans, playing in Spurs' post season friendlies in Malaysia and Austrailia. This followed the 2014/15 campaign, where Onomah made his professional debut for the club, coming on against Burnley in the FA Cup third round.
The new deal will keep suitors away, one of whom, Spurs' London rivals Cheslea, were previously thought to be eyeing up a move for the 18-year-old. Noiw, though Pochettino may even consider using the exciting winger within his first team squad ahead of the new season.
The Argentinian boss is known to give young players an opportunity in the first team and the under 18 England international is arguably the most exciting talent currently in the Tottenham Hotspur ranks.
Last season, Onomah captained the club's youth team to the semi finals of the FA Cup, while he also made over 15 appearances for Spurs' development side in the Barclays under 21 Premier League league.
Onomah. who has only ever been with the Spurs academy, would have to challenge the likes of Nacer Chadli, Erik Lamela, Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend for a place in Pochettino's starting XI, but with the latter two English wingers constantly linked with a move away from North London this summer transfer window, it may not be such a preposterous claim to think that Onomah could get some serious game time this campaign.
The news was broken on the club's official twitter account and within minutes fans were already lauding the announcement, indicating how highly regarded the flying wide man is received amongst the Spurs die hard fans.
