The 7 Best Debut Goals in Premier League History

April 14th marked five years to the day since Danny Rose scored his unbelievable debut goal for Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby.

But where does his strike rank in the best Premier League debut goals of all time?

Let's find out...

7. Alan Smith

Alan Smith was just 18-years-old when he made his professional debut for Leeds United. The stage was set for him perfectly; the Whites were losing 1-0 at Anfield as the future England international was sent on.

The fresh faced striker jumped off the bench to score his side's equalizer, with a composed finish that an established top flight striker would have been proud of.

6. Jurgen Klinsmann

He came with a reputation as a diver following his World Cup exploits, but Jurgen Klinsmann answered his critics in the best way possible with a superb header to earn Spurs a dramatic 4-3 win at Sheffield Wednesday on the first day of the 1994/95 season.

The former German international met Darren Anderton's drifted cross at the end of the thrilling tie to powerfully head past Kevin Pressman in the Owls' net and immediately enter Spurs' Hall of Fame.

5. Papiss Cisse

Papiss Cisse has a knack of scoring ridiculous goals, just think about his outrageous lob against Chelsea a few seasons back. Yet, even his first goal for the Magpies, which came on his league debut, was something worth revisiting.

The Senegalese striker, signed from Freiburg in the 2012 January transfer window, came on as a substitute during Newcastle's home game with Aston Villa and ended up scoring a fantastic winner in front of the St James' Park faithful. Cisse controlled a wayward cross on his chest before lashing the ball into the top corner with his left foot.

4. Sergio Aguero

Technically, Aguero's debut goal for City was merely a simple tap in, but the fact that the Argentine went on to grab an assist, before scoring a superb 30 yard (all in the space of 30 minutes) strike says it all.

Already one of the deadliest strikers in Premier League history, the Argentine international exploded onto the top flight after coming on for the Citizens in the opening game of the 2011/12 season, with many City fans still fondly remembering his first game for the club.

3. Mario Stanic

Although a massive flop at Stamford Bridge, Mario Stanic's debut goal for the Blues was something out of a Hollywood movie. The Croatian midfielder scored this wonderstrike as Chelsea hosted West Ham in the first game of the 2000/01 season.

Picking up the ball midway through the Hammers' half, Stanic juggled it, first on his knee and then his foot, before unleashing an unstoppable strike into the top corner. The goal would later win the Goal of the Season award.

2. Danny Rose

It's the North London derby at White Hart Lane and you've been handed your Premier League debut at left back for Spurs. You would think Danny Rose would want to keep things simple, but the diminutive full back entered Tottenham folklore with this incredible goal.

A Spurs corner had been punched out by the Gunners' keeper, but Rose, at the first time of asking, connected with the ball so sweetly that it simply flew into the roof of the net. Classic stuff.

1. Stan Collymore

Everyone knew that Stan Collymore was capable of the unbelievable, yet few believed he was still able to do it by the time the former England man joined Bradford City in October 2000.

However, Collymore would go on to score a sublime overhead kick for the Bantams against Leeds United in the Yorkshire derby to earn himself the title of scoring the greatest ever debut goal in the Premier League.
