2023 Women's World Cup draw: England face Denmark; USA meet Netherlands

England will face China, Denmark and one of Senegal, Haiti or Chile in the 2023 World Cup group stages, as they bid to follow their Euro 2022 triumph with a world title.

Reigning champions the USA face a reunion with the Netherlands - the team they beat in the 2019 final - and will also take on Vietnam and either Portugal, Cameroon or Thailand in the group stages.

The draw took place on Saturday at the Aotea Centre in Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand, and was presented by two-time World Cup winner Carli Lloyd and Amanda Davies.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Australian Federal Minister for Sport Anika Wells and FIFA president Gianni Infantino all conducted welcoming speeches at the ceremony.

England's group matches will all be in Australia, with their three group stage fixtures taking place across cities Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide. They will face the winner or runner-up from Group B should they progress to the last 16.

The USA have been drawn alongside the Netherlands, Vietnam and the Group A playoff winner - either Portugal, Cameroon or Thailand - in Group E

The USA's group stage matches all take place in New Zealand, with two fixtures in Aukland and one in Wellington.

World Cup debutants the Republic of Ireland have been drawn in a tasty group alongside co-hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada and Nigeria in Group B. The Republic of Ireland will be Australia's opening game of their home tournament, facing the co-hosts in Sydney on day one of the competition.

The remaining three teams competing at next summer's World Cup will be confirmed on 22 February, when the inter-confederation play-offs conclude.

When is the 2023 Women's World Cup?

The 2023 Women's World Cup takes place between 20 July and 10 August in Australia and New Zealand.

The first group match takes place at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand on 20 July., and will see New Zealand take on Norway. The 2023 Women's World Cup final takes place at Stadium Australia, Sydney on 10 August.

The 2023 Women's World Cup is the first to be hosted in the southern hemisphere, and has been expanded to feature 32 teams for the first time.
