Manchester United will face Nottingham Forest in the two-legged Carabao Cup semi-finals as they seek to end a six-year trophy drought.

The other tie has pitted Southampton against Newcastle after the Saints surprisingly dumped Manchester City out of the competition in their quarter-final tie on Wednesday night.

Erik ten Hag's United had booked their place in the last four with a 3-0 win over Charlton, the lowest ranked side to reach the quarter-finals.

Newcastle, meanwhile, secured a first semi-final appearance in any competition in 18 years by beating Leicester on Tuesday. The Magpies haven't won a major trophy since 1969.

Forest were the last team to reach the semi-finals, prevailing on penalties against Wolves.
