France Football have announced the nominees for the 2021 Yachine Trophy, awarded to the player voted the best goalkeeper in the world.

Liverpool's Alisson is the current holder, but he is not included following the Reds' disappointing league title defence and Champions League quarter-final exit.

There is plenty of Premier League representation elsewhere, however, including a name that may surprise a few.

Aston Villa and Argentina keeper Emiliano Martinez takes his place on the shortlist following an impressive debut campaign with his club and, more significantly, a mammoth goalkeeping display in the Copa America semi-final penalty shootout victory over Colombia on the way to lifting the trophy in the summer.

Elsewhere, Chelsea's Edouard Mendy is included following a string of fine performances en route to winning the Champions League in May.

The award is named after legendary, late, hat-wearing, USSR goalkeeper Lev Yashin, who is widely regarded as the greatest to ever play in his position.

Here is the full list of nominees:

- Gianluigi Donnarumma (AC Milan/ Paris Saint-Germain & Italy)

- Ederson (Man City & Brazil)

- Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City & Denmark)

- Edouard Mendy (Chelsea & Senegal)

- Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid & Belgium)

- Keylor Navas (PSG & Costa Rica)

- Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa & Argentina)
