Lucas Silva could mark his Real Madrid debut on Saturday, according to boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian manager addressed the media ahead of Sunday’s clash against Atletico Madrid, confirming that his newest signing could be on the receiving end of some pitch time.

"He [Silva] has arrived in great shape. He's not 100%, but he looks good to me. It's possible that we'll be able to give him some minutes in this next game" he said, as quoted by Marca.

Ancelotti also took a moment to address the Illarramendi transfer rumours, confirming interest from Athletic Bilbao, whilst emphasising that the Spaniard is staying put.

"I have not asked the club for anything. It is true that he had an offer from Athletic, but he's happy here. He took a look at his situation and decided to stay and we are happy that he is doing so. We like his professionalism and in the few minutes that he has had, he has always done a good job."

Ancelotti went on to add that Illarra should get the start on Sunday against his old club, Real Sociedad and that the team will manage as per usual with the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

"We'll play the same game as always. We defend with a 4-4-2 and on the attack, as Ronaldo won't be with us, James will play a little further forward. James is the one whose position will change".

Los Blancos will look to pull out three points at home, a rather different result from their trip to Real Sociedad’s home earlier in the season, ending in a shock 4-2 defeat.

"I think we've improved since that match at Anoeta. This is a different team compared to the one from the game in the first half of the season."
