Arsene Wenger says Arsenal's capture of Gabriel Paulista is likely to be their last of the January transfer window.

The Brazilian signed from Villarreal in an £11.2m deal earlier this week and follows the arrival of teenager Krystian Bielik at the Emirates Stadium.

And Wenger, who also revealed that a new contract for midfield revelation Francis Coquelin is '99 per cent' done, says more incoming signings are now unlikely.

The Gunners boss told reporters: "If I wake up in the morning and somebody’s stood in front of my door who is an exceptional player, I will open the door.

"'It looks very unlikely now. I can give you my address if you want."

Wenger admits that Gabriel could make his debut against Aston Villa on Sunday, having been impressed with the centre-back in training this week.

"We are in a job where competition exists," the Frenchman added. "The best player of the moment plays.

"He’s ready to go. He’ll be in the squad certainly. He started training yesterday (Thursday) and he looks fit.

"I saw great quality. His level of concentration, he's quick, has great commitment and he's young."

Meanwhile, Wenger confirmed that talisman Alexis Sanchez is a doubt for Sunday's encounter.

"We will test him tomorrow (Saturday). It is unlikely that I will risk him on Sunday. We’ll see."
