Standout player of the season Alan Hutton is suspended after accumulating five yellow cards, so Matthew Lowton will deputise at right-back.

Captain Ron Vlaar's return to fitness, that saw him make an appearance as a late substitute in the 1-0 defeat to West Brom, should help strengthen the backline against an in-form United side.

Aly Cissokho may drop to the bench in favour of the in-form Clark.

Both Tom Cleverly and Kieran Richardson are unavailable through suspension, with the former additionally ineligible to play against his parent club. Meanwhile, Ashley Westwood is out until the New Year with a knee injury, so Leandro Bacuna should be given a chance for his first start of the season after reports he fell out with former assistant manager Roy Keane.

Fabian Delph should start his first game since October after returning from a shoulder injury.

The usual front three for Villa should be able to take advantage of Manchester United's back three, with Weimann's work rate, Agbonlahor's pace and Christian's Benteke all round game.

A 20 minute run-out for highly-rated academy graduates Jack Grealish and Callum Robinson should also be in Paul Lambert's notepad as he has said he will look to incorporate youth into the side.
