10. Asmir Begovic

Height - 6ft 6in

Begovic is an incredibly intimidating figure between the posts. The Bosnian stopper has been the first-choice keeper at the Britannia for almost three years.

He fills the goal impressively and his long arms give him one of the biggest reaches for a keeper, contributing to one of the reasons why Stoke are so difficult to break down.

He was named Bosnian Footballer of the Year for 2013 and represented his country at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

9. Brede Hangeland

Height - 6ft 6in

The Crystal Palace centre-back has been a titanic presence in Premier League defending for several years.

He was captain of Fulham before making the switch across London to Palace in 2013.

The Norwegian international's soaring height has helped him maintain a status as one of the league's most intimidating defenders and is highly-rated amongst his peers as well immensely popular with fans.

8. Dan Burn

Height - 6ft 6in

Hangeland's apprentice at Fulham, Burn is one of the tallest players in the Championship and a vastly improving defender.

He broke into the first-team at Craven Cottage during their relegation fight last season and was one of the few players singled out for praise during their dismal run.

At 22, Burn still has time on his side as he matures and educates himself in the Championship. However, it may only be a matter of time before he is back safeguarding a Premier League team.

7. Per Mertesacker

Height - 6ft 6in

What Mertesacker lacks in speed, he makes up for in his mountainous physique.

At a hefty 6ft 6in, the German international is an imposing figure to come up against for any striker and has proven himself to be one of the toughest defenders around.

The former Werder Bremen man is a crucial part of Arsenal's back-line, having formed an effective partnership with Laurent Koscielny in the heart of their defence, showing that he is much more than just a colossal human being.

6. Kostas Chalkias

Height - 6ft 6.5in

The Greek goalkeeper is not the most memorable player in Premier League history, but he is certainly one of the tallest.

The retired stopper never managed to forge a career in the English game, accruing only five games for Portsmouth before he was dropped and never seen again.

Dubbed "Mr. Bean" due to his bumbling nature, the former Greek international finished his career with PAOK.

5. Peter Crouch

Height - 6ft 7in

Peter Crouch has always stood out from the crowd. Apart from the fleeting experience Traore had at Everton, Crouch can claim to have consistently been the tallest outfield player in the Premier League.

The former England international, currently with Stoke City, relishes using his 6ft 7in frame against defenders, bossing them in aerial duels on a regular basis and has scored several goals as a result.

However, Crouch has also been renowned as a supremely skilled operator with his feet, debunking myths that his arsenal amounts to merely his sky-scraping figure.

4. Nikola Zigic

Height - 6ft 7in

The giant Serbian spent one season in the Premier League with Birmingham City before the Blues were relegated.

The 32-year-old did manage to taste glory at Wembley though and scored as Birmingham defeated Arsenal 2-1 in the 2011 Carling Cup final.

He only managed five goals in the top flight, but has continued scoring for the Blues in the Championship. Unlike the lanky Crouch, Zigic has a broad figure to make him a physically more challenging opponent to face.

He scored a crucial goal on the final day of the Championship last season which secured survival for Birmingham.

3. Stefan Maierhofer

Height - 6ft 7.5in

Definitely one for the obscure Premier League footballers collection, the Austrian international signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers for £1.8m in 2009, after an impressing scoring record at Rapid Vienna.

Yet, he failed to recreate that form for Wolves and was shipped off to Germany after just one season at Molineux.

Maierhofer was not clinical in front of goal in the Premier League and only found the net on one occasion during his eight appearances. However, he remains in the memory due to his mammoth frame.

2. Costel Pantilimon

Height - 6ft 8in

The current no.1 at Sunderland, Pantilimon got heads turning at the Etihad Stadium when he first came to the Premier League with Manchester City.

The Romanian stopper is the tallest player currently in the league, standing head and shoulders above the rest. His astonishingly lanky frame gives him a distinct advantage in between the sticks and has helped him oust Vito Mannone from the Black Cats first-team.

Height - 6ft 8in

Although he only managed a single league appearance during his short loan-spell at Everton, the "Gentle Giant" is still officially the tallest player to ever feature in the Premier League.

The Ivorian giant made his only appearance against Hull City on the final day of the season, coming on as a second-half substitute.

The 6ft 8in striker injured his hamstring in a warm-up before playing Chelsea and it ruled him out for the majority of his loan-spell. He did manage to score on his début against Swansea in the FA Cup, but he will always be remembered for his incredible height.
