'I love you' - Matheus Cunha buys lavish gifts for Wolves duo in probable goodbye

Matheus Cunha’s time at Wolverhampton Wanderers appears to be drawing to a close.

The Brazilian forward, who was instrumental in Wolves' Premier League survival with 15 goals and standout performances in the final third, is reportedly on the verge of joining Manchester United in what could be one of the summer’s biggest transfers.

An agreement is believed to have been reached between the clubs, personal terms have been settled, and both United and Wolves are said to have agreed on a payment plan for Cunha’s £62.5m release clause.

The 26-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option to extend for an additional year.

Ahead of the anticipated move, Cunha appeared to say goodbye to two of his Wolves and Brazil teammates—João Gomes and André—by gifting them Rolex watches. The gesture was tied to a promise he made if the team avoided relegation, but the heartfelt messages included with the gifts hinted at a final farewell.

“Thank you for all the moments, you will always be in my heart,” Cunha wrote in a card to both players. “I will always be in love with you and your family. I love you.”

Gomes shared a video of André discovering the Rolex in the dressing room, followed by a warm embrace with Cunha.

André also paid tribute to his departing teammate, posting a photo of the two warming up together during the season with the caption: “I’m sure you will shine wherever you go, my friend. May God bless you and your family.”

Manchester United will certainly be hoping he does just that.
