While they rightfully enjoyed their FA Cup triumph back in May, Manchester United still endured a largely torrid campaign.

The Red Devils finished eighth in the Premier League - their lowest ever finish - and were dumped out of the Champions League at the group stage. Despite speculation over his future at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag has held on to his job.

In fact, the Dutchman has actually been handed a contract extension and will be desperate to redeem himself next term. With a few new additions and another full pre-season under their belts, Man Utd supporters will feel they can start the rebuilding process in 2024/25.

Here is how the Red Devils have fared in pre-season.

Where did Man Utd go for 2024/25 pre-season?

Man Utd kicked off their 2024/25 pre-season adventure with a trip to Norway to face Rosenborg on 15 July, followed by a journey to Scotland to face Rangers five days later.

The Red Devils then set up shop in the United States for their summer tour where they played a total of three friendlies, including matches against some of their fiercest Premier League rivals.

Of course, Man Utd also faced local foes Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley after winning last season's FA Cup.

Man Utd's 2024/25 pre-season confirmed schedule

A mixed Man Utd team got their pre-season off to a disappointing start when they faced Rosenborg in Norway. While the likes of Casemiro, Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount all featured, they couldn't break down their opponents and eventually fell to a late defeat.

Man Utd did bounce back a few days later in Edinburgh as Rangers were beaten 2-0 thanks to strikes from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill. New signing Leny Yoro also impressed on his first outing for the club.

The Red Devils then jetted off to the United States after their battle with the Glasgow club, but their American tour started with a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in California. Rasmus Hojlund endured an eventful outing as he scored the game's opener before being withdrawn through injury. Yoro also suffered a nasty injury setback.

Spanish side Real Betis were next up for the Red Devils and it was another entertaining affair, with Man Utd coming out as narrow 3-2 victors. Despite falling behind, quickfire first-half goals from Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Casemiro proved enough.

United endured a tough night to finish their US venture as Arne Slot's Liverpool beat Ten Hag's side 3-0 in South Carolina, though.

Having returned back to England, Man Utd closed out their pre-season with another defeat. Despite drawing 1-1 in normal time with Man City in the Community Shield, Jonny Evans' miscued penalty in the shootout saw the Red Devils fail to claim their first piece of silverware in 2024/25.
