Manchester City and Real Madrid have played out some thrilling battles in recent years, with Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg unlikely to disappoint.

The first leg finished 3-3 in a bonkers game full of screamers, with this week's reverse fixture taking place at the Etihad Stadium.

With a place in the final four still up for grabs, Man City are searching for successive Champions League triumphs, while Real Madrid aiming to extend their competition record to 15 wins.

Neither side have too many injury woes to contend with ahead of the duel in Manchester in midweek, but missing players could yet prove pivotal for both teams.

Here are all those unavailable for the crunch clash.

Man City returned to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday afternoon with a 5-1 victory over Luton Town, with Pep Guardiola welcoming the influential Kevin De Bruyne back into the fold after he missed the Bernabeu clash through illness.

Ederson also returned to the starting lineup for the first time since the 1-1 draw with Liverpool in early March, while Nathan Ake and Kyle Walker, both of whom missed the first leg with injuries, were on the bench against Luton.

Rodri was rested against Luton having voiced concerns over his fitness levels, while Phil Foden was a doubt for the clash with the Hatters but was fit enough for the bench.

Therefore, the only major fitness concern for Man City is John Stones, who was absent form the weekend win due to some slight discomfort. Guardiola insisted he was not injured, but he remains a minor doubt for the midweek tie.

Real Madrid injuries and suspensions

Carlo Ancelotti also has a fairly fit squad for the trip to the Etihad, although he will be without a few key first teamers. One of those is Aurelien Tchouameni, who will miss out after picking up his third Champions League yellow card of the season during the first leg.

David Alaba is also absent with an ACL tear that is likely to sideline him until the beginning of next season, while Thibaut Courtois has suffered an injury setback following his recovery from an ACL issue and is unlikely to play again this term.

Centre-back Eder Militao had also missed much of the season with an ACL injury but has returned for Real Madrid in recent games. He will be available to match Erling Haaland this Wednesday, although Ancelotti may opt to start Nacho at the back instead.
