  • Pointless Everton travel to winless Leicester in the Premier League on Saturday
  • Huge game towards the bottom of the table
  • Sean Dyche could get the sack if Toffees are beaten

A huge game beckons at the King Power Stadium as two winless Premier League sides face off in Leicester and Everton.

Sean Dyche's injury-ridden Toffees couldn't have endured a poorer start to the new campaign and their misery was compounded in the week as they exited the Carabao Cup following a penalty shootout defeat to Southampton.

Everton sit rock bottom of the Premier League table and a defeat on Saturday may prove to be the final straw for Dyche on Merseyside.

Expectations weren't exactly grand for Leicester heading into 2024/25 despite impressively winning the Championship last season. Many are still tipping Steve Cooper's Foxes to succumb to the drop, but they've at least accumulated a couple of points during the first month of the season. They did allow a 2-0 lead to slip at Crystal Palace last weekend, however.

Given the scarcity of points accumulated by those expected to be fighting against the drop, Saturday's clash in the East Midlands represents a hugely important fixture.

Odsonne Edouard was not eligible to take on parent club Crystal Palace last weekend, but Cooper can call upon the forward this weekend. The Frenchman could work in tandem with Jamie Vardy while Patson Daka remains on the sidelines.

Daka continues to be bothered by an ankle injury sustained at the end of pre-season. Jakub Stolarczyk also misses out with an ankle issue.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielders Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp could team up in Leicester's engine room alongside Foxes stalwart Wilfred Ndidi.

Everton's injury woes are still abhorrent for this crucial encounter.

The visitors will be without Seamus Coleman, James Garner, Idrissa Gueye, Nathan Patterson, Youssef Chermiti, Jarrad Branthwaite and summer arrival Armando Broja this weekend for a variety of reasons. Garner is battling illness, while Gueye is likely to miss out for personal reasons.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, James Tarkowski and Michael Keane should all be okay to feature at the King Power, with Vitaliy Mykolenko also likely to make his return having missed Everton's previous two defeats through illness.

Leicester vs Everton score prediction

It's only September, yet this already feels like a very big game. Expect a tense King Power, although there's undoubtedly more pressure on the winless visitors.

Dyche has been hamstrung by injuries at the start of 2024/25 and such woes haven't alleviated in time for this crunch fixture. Everton are going to have to grind and grind hard if they're to get out of the East Midlands with their first points of the season.

However, they may just about do enough to earn a point which might keep the Everton manager in the job for another week.

Prediction: Leicester 1-1 Everton
