Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel's assistant Zsolt Lőw has backed midfielder Jorginho to win this year's Ballon d'Or, stating he would consider the Blues and Italy midfielder 'absolutely deserving' if he won the coveted award.
Jorginho played a key role for Chelsea as they won the Champions League last season and was instrumental for Italy in their Euro 2020 title winning campaign, and is considered as a leading contender to win the 2021 Ballon d'Or.
Speaking to Digi Sport, Lőw heaped praise on Jorginho and backed the Chelsea midfielder to claim this year's Ballon d'Or.
He added: "I would consider him absolutely deserving if he won the Ballon d’Or, and would be glad that the award wasn’t only decided between two or three offensive players, but that there be an opportunity for someone else to win it with hard work and great discipline."
While Jorginho is indeed a leading contender for 2021 Ballon d'Or, Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi, who is chasing a record-extending seventh, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski and Real Madrid's Karim Benzema are also among the favourites to claim the award.
