Belgium winger Yannick Carrasco has outlined what they need to do to stop Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal from hurting them in the Euro 2020 round-of-16.

Belgium comfortably topped Group B, and are through to the next stage of the competition, where they face defending champions Portugal.

Portugal have not been at their best so far in this competition, but Cristiano Ronaldo has been impressive for Fernando Santos' side, scoring five goals and assisting another.

And, Carrasco, who started for Belgium in their first two group games, has explained what they need to do to stop Ronaldo and Portugal for causing them harm. The Atletico Madrid winger says they have to keep Ronaldo as far away from Belgium's box as possible and not give Portugal players any space to exploit and attack.

“We know that we can’t give him a chance or even a half-chance because he can score from everywhere. His strength is to score – to score and to score again," Carrasco said at a pre-match press conference.

"Therefore, we have to keep as far away as possible from our box. So, we have to keep him well in check But, we know that around him there are other players that can assist him any moment. So, it is up to us not to leave them any space because we know they are dangerous when they find space."
