Xavi has reportedly decided to axe Barcelona star Luuk de Jong in the January transfer window - and that's before the new boss has held a single training session.
The 41-year-old is set to return to Camp Nou and take over from Ronald Koeman, who was sacked by the Catalan giants last week. Barcelona paid Qatari side Al Sadd around €5m for his services and according to SPORT, Xavi has already decided to let De Jong leave in the upcoming transfer window.
The former Newcastle man joined Barca on deadline day following Antoine Griezmann's move to Atletico Madrid. He's scored once in nine games and been left on the bench for the last two.
Despite that, Koeman stated that he had qualities superior to Neymar. He said via Marca: "When there's a cross coming in, Luuk is more dangerous than Neymar. He's a different kind of forward to what we have, and I think all teams should have one like him."
Barcelona are currently ninth on the LaLiga table, with just four wins from 11 games. Following last weekend's 1-1 draw with Deportivo Alaves, Jordi Alba expressed his frustration at the result.
"It's a bad point, one from nine, a team like Barca needs more. We are not happy with where we are in the table. It's really tough for us to score goals. We put pressure on but we're not scoring," he said.
"They didn't have too many chances but we had some. Memphis [Depay] hit the post but the goal wouldn't go in."
