Manchester United are reportedly not showing any interest in making a move for Cristiano Ronaldo amid concrete news of interest from Manchester City.

Many fans have wondered why United are not showing up and intervening in City's pursuit to sign the Red Devils legend.

But, it has been revealed that United are staying away from the move for Ronaldo simply due to their desire to land Erling Haaland next summer.

Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Juventus and things seem to be moving pretty fast in this regard.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, was in Turin on Wednesday to discuss his future after news broke of his intention to leave Juventus as soon as possible.

Since all of this has happened, United, who have always been subject to transfer speculation when it comes to Ronaldo, have remained quiet.

It has been reported that Solskjaer and Murtough both are of the opinion that Haaland is United's next big transfer target.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Murtough, who was appointed the club's first-ever football director, is in ‘mutual agreement’ with Solskjaer over Haaland as a ‘preferred long-term number nine target.’

The report added a potential transfer for Ronaldo would ‘compromise’ United’s ability to sign Haaland next summer and hence the Red Devils will not hijack Manchester City's move for the Portuguese legend.
