Former Netherlands international Wesley Sneijder has named Italy as the favourites to win the ongoing Euro 2020.

Italy have been quite impressive in the tournament as they sealed their place in the round-of-16 after topping Group A. The Gli Azzurri, who won all three group games, scored seven goals and have not conceded any goal so far in this competition.

And, Sneijder, who featured for Netherlands in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Euro Cups, has backed Italy to win the Euro 2020 title.

"For me, Italy are the favourites to win the title," Sneijder told NOS [via Football Italia]. "They play convincing football and have made a lot of progress."

Italy face Austria in the round-of-16, and Roberto Mancini's side are expected to progress to the quarter-final.

Should they go through to the quarter-final, they will have to overcome the winner of the Portugal vs Belgium clash. Both sides are among the favourites to win the European championship, and Italy could be in for a thrilling face-off.

Italy could also potentially face world champions France in the semi-final, so they will have to be on top of their game if they are to make it into the final of the tournament.
