UEFA Champions League Roundup: Chelsea, Man Utd, Barcelona, PSG and Juventus Grab Crucial Wins on the Night

The first half of games for matchday 4 in the group stage of the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League saw all wins for all big teams on the night.

We take a look at how the top teams fared.....

1. Rennes 1-2 Chelsea

It took a late winner from Olivier Giroud to hand Chelsea all three points against a stubborn Rennes side.

Callum Hudson-Odoi opened the scoring for the Blues before Rennes equalised in the 85th minute.

The match was heading for a 1-1 draw before Giroud scored the winner right at the end of the game.

With this win, Chelsea booked their place in the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League with two games still to go.

2. Manchester United 4-1 Istanbul Besaksehir

Group H clash between Manchester United and Istanbul Besaksehir at Old Trafford was expected to be a sort of a comeback for the Red Devils considering the humiliation they received in Turkey last time out.

United ran out 4-1 winners with Bruno Fernandes scoring a brace and Marcus Rashford and Daniel James each netting a much needed goal for themselves.

The Red Devils will now face Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford on December 2 late night 1:30am (December 3) IST and a win for the Red Devils in that game could ensure their passage to the round of 16.

3. Dynamo Kyiv 0-4 FC Barcelona

Group G saw FC Barcelona visit Dynamo Kyiv and coming out with a thumping 4-0 win. All four goals came in the second half as Sergino Dest scored his first goal for Barcelona before Braithwaite netted a brace. Griezmann rounded up a dominant display by the Catalan giants by converting a penalty at the end of the game.

The win saw Barcelona qualify for the knockout rounds and they will next face Ferencvaros away from home on December 2 late night 1:30am (December 3) IST.

4. PSG 1-0 RB Leipzig

Group H's other clash on the night saw PSG clash with RB Leipzig in a must win encounter and a Neymar penalty in the 11th minute was enough for the French champions to claim a crucial three points.

With this win, PSG climbed to the second spot in Group H and will now clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on December 2 late night 1:30am (December 3) IST.

5. Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Club Brugge

Borussia Dortmund came into this game needing a win to ensure that they would need just one more win or two more draws to make it to the Champions League round-of-16.

However, they came out all guns blazing and annihilated Club Brugge on the night with a 3-0 win.

Erling Haaland scored a brace which included a goal in both halves. Jadon Sancho scored the second goal of the game in extra-time of the first half to seal the deal for Dortmund.

Dortmund will face Lazio next in a clash that will determine who will win Group F. The two teams will face off on December 2 late night 1:30am (December 3) IST.

6. Juventus 2-1 Ferencvaros

Juventus made things difficult for themselves and came out with a late late win over Ferencvaros in Group G to ensure their qualification for the round-of-16 of the Champions League.

Ferencvaros opened the scoring in Turin before Cristiano Ronaldo came to Juventus' rescue.

The match was heading for a draw until Alvaro Morata saved Juventus' blushes in the 92nd minute as he netted the winner.

The Old Lady will stay in Turin for their next game too against Dynamo Kyiv on December 2 late night 1:30am (December 3 (IST).
