UEFA Champions League 2021-22: Each team's qualification status for the round-of-16

The UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw is all set to be held after the final matchday of the group stages this week.

As of now, 11 teams have qualified for the round of 16 with the rest five teams to be decided on the last matchday.

Three teams are confirmed into the Europa League whereas three teams could still make it into the second tier competition after matchday 6

Today, we take a look at all UEFA Champions League groups and analyse who needs what to qualify for the last 16.


Group A final standings: Manchester City, PSG, RB Leipzig, Club Brugge

Manchester City (12 points) have qualified for the round of 16 as Group A winners.

PSG (11 points) are also through to the last-16 as runners-up in Group A.

RB Leipzig (7 points) through to the Europa League

Club Brugge (4 points) knocked out


Group B: Liverpool, Porto, Milan, Atletico Madrid

Liverpool (18 points) have already qualified for the round of 16 as Group B winners.

Atletico Madrid (7 points) made an incredible comeback from last in standings to finish runners-up and make it to the last-16.

Porto (5 points) is third and go through to the Europa League

Milan (4 points) end last in their group and are knocked out


Group C: Ajax, Sporting Lisbon, Borussia Dortmund, Besiktas

Ajax (18 points) are through to the round of 16 as group winners.

Sporting Lisbon (9 points) are through to the last-16 as Group C runners-up.

Dortmund (9 points) will feature in the UEFA Europa League this year whereas Besiktas (0 points) are confirmed fourth.


Group D: Real Madrid, Inter, Shakhtar Donetsk, FC Sheriff

Real Madrid (15 points) are through to the round of 16 with a confirmed first place finish.

Inter Milan (10 points) finish second and will feature in the last-16.

Sherrif (7 points) are confirmed a spot in the Europa League whereas Shakhtar (2 points) will finish fourth.


Group E: Bayern Munich , FC Barcelona, Benfica, Dynamo Kyiv

Bayern (15 points) are already through to the round of 16 as group winners.

FC Barcelona (7 points) will go through if they beat Munich on the last matchday or if Benfica (5 points) do not manage to win against Dynamo Kyiv.

Benfica will go through to the round of 16 as group runners-up if they win against Dynamo Kyiv and Barcelona do not win against Bayern Munich.

Dynamo Kyiv (1 point) are confirmed last.

Fixtures: Bayern (15) vs Barcelona (7), Benfica (5) vs Dynamo Kyiv (1)


Group F: Manchester United, Villarreal, Atalanta, Young Boys

Manchester United (10 points) are confirmed through to the round of 16 as group winners.

Villarreal (7 points) will join the Red Devils if they win or draw. They will finish third if they lose to Atalanta (6 points).

Young Boys (4 points) can finish third if they win against Manchester United and Atalanta lose to Villarreal.

Fixtures: Manchester United (10) vs Young Boys (4), Atalanta (6) vs Villarreal (7)


Group G: Wolfsburg, LOSC Lille, Salzburg, Sevilla

The absolute group of death.

LOSC Lille (8 points) will confirm go through to the last-16 if they avoid defeat against Wolfsburg. They will finish first if they win or if they draw and Salzburg do not win in the other game.

Salzburg (7 points) will go through if they draw or win against Sevilla. They will finish first if they win and Lille don't.

Sevilla (6 points) will go through if they win against Salzburg. They can also finish first if they win and Lille lose.

Wolfsburg (5 points) will go through if they win their game against Lille. They can also finish first in the group if they win and the other game ends in a draw.

Fixtures: Wolfsburg (5) vs LOSC Lille (8), Salzburg (7) vs Sevilla (6)


Group H: Chelsea, Juventis, Zenit, Malmo

Chelsea are already qualified for the round of 16. They will finish first in the group if they win their game against Zenit. They can also top the group if they draw and Juventus do not manage to win or if the Bianconeri lose against Malmo.

Juventus are also through to the round of 16 and will finish first in their group if they win and Chelsea draw or lose.

Zenit are confirmed third and will play in the Europa League whereas Malmo are knocked out.
