Liverpool ended their Anfield losing streak as Trent Alexander-Arnold's late goal sealed a 2-1 comeback win for the Reds against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp's men stared down another home defeat when Ollie Watkins put Villa ahead on 43 minutes. John McGinn played the ball to the England international, who took a touch before striking it past Alisson Becker, who should have done better to prevent it from going into the back of the net.

Liverpool reacted strongly after conceding the opener, and they found the back of the net through Roberto Firmino in the second minute of the first-half extra time. However, following a VAR review, the goal was ruled out after Diogo Jota was deemed to have been offside in the build-up.

Liverpool, though, restored parity 12 minutes into the second-half through Mohamed Salah. Emiliano Martinez denied Andy Robertson but the Villa goalkeeper could only push the ball into the path of Salah, who duly headed into an open net.

Alexander-Arnold then sealed Liverpool's comeback win in the injury time as he struck the ball wonderfully beyond Martinez's reach and into the Villa net from just outside the box.

With this victory, Liverpool kept their hopes of a top-four finish intact, with the defending champions now sitting fifth with 52 points.
