Netherlands are out of Euro 2020!

Czech Republic stunned the Oranje 2-0 in the round-of-16 to seal their place in the quarter-finals of the competitions.

Frank de Boar's side were handed their first major blow of the night when referee sent off Matthijs de Ligt after he deemed the Dutch centre-back had deliberately used his hand to deny Patrick Shick a clear goal scoring opportunity.

That reduced Netherlands to 10 men on 55 minutes, and Czech Republic broke the deadlock 13 minutes later to take the lead. A free-kick was sent into the box and Tomas Kalas headed it across goal and Tomas Holes steered a header into the net from close range.

They doubled their lead on 80 minutes after some smart work by Kalas. He won the ball and made a dangerous into the box before pulling it back for Schick who duly slotted it into the net.

Netherlands tried to claw their way back into the game but Czech Republic stood strong and they looked more likely to score the next goal of the match as they completely outclassed the opponents and deservedly sealed their place in the next stage of the competition.

Meanwhile, Czech Republic will face Denmark, who thrashed Wales 4-0 in the round-of-16, in the quarter-finals.
