The summer transfer window for 2021 has finally shut down as clubs concluded their incredible business for the year.

This summer saw some incredible transfers with the most talked about moves being that of Lionel Messi moving to PSG and Cristiano Ronaldo returning back to Manchester United.

However, a lot happened on deadline day too. Here are some of the best rumours of the day.

Why did PSG turn down Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe offer?

Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol says:

"If you look at it from PSG's point of view, they are building something special. They've got this frontline of Mbappe, Neymar and Messi.

"They're thinking, instead of letting him go to Real Madrid now, let's have this front three for a year, try to win the Champions League and maybe convince him to sign a new contract.

"The information we have is that he's not going to do that - and said that on Tuesday to PSG. But the people who own the club don't feel they're going to be bullied in the transfer window by any one, least of all Real Madrid."

Martial turned down a last minute move to Lyon
