Tottenham have reportedly initiated talks with former Wolves' boss, Nuno Espirito Santo, as they look to bring in a new manager before the start of the new season.

The north London side are still looking to replace Jose Mourinho, who was sacked back in April and is heading to Roma next season. Former boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently at Paris Saint-Germain, and former Inter boss, Antonio Conte, were linked to the hot seat at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but moves failed to materialize for either of them.

Spurs, who have been linked to Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Brendan Rodgers, Julian Nagelsmann, Fonseca, Gennaro Gattuso, Julen Lopetegui, and now Nuno Santo, are in their third month of searching for a new manager.

According to The Guardian, new Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici is a huge admirer of the former Wolves' manager, who left the club at the end of last season after a four-year stint at the Molineux Stadium.

The report adds that Spurs were not considering Nuno until Paratici's appointment, with the former Juventus official keen on bringing the Portuguese to the Serie A club before they eventually appointed club legend Andrea Pirlo as manager.

Earlier this week, Lorenzo Insigne revealed that Gattuso found talks with Tottenham to be in a bit of a "mess" leading to discussions over the managerial vacancy to break down.

Speaking to Football Italia, Insigne said: "We’ve texted each other, he told me there was a bit of mess. But now I am focused on the Euros, while he’s on holiday so I am not going to ask him such questions."
