Manchester United continued their excellent recent form with a 5-2 thrashing over Bournemouth at Old Trafford. It was revealed yesterday that the Red Devils had agreed personal terms with Jadon Sancho.
There's also rumours making the rounds of Wembley being put up for sale by the Football Association due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
With that in mind, here's a look at the top stories of the day and we rate them on the scale of 1 to 10.
Arsenal step up Partey approach
Matteo Guendouzi, Alexandre Lacazette, or Lucas Torreira could be sold in order to fund an approach for the midfielder, with transfer funds in short supply at the Emirates. Partey is understood to be keen to join Mikel Arteta next season and the Arsenal manager has him marked down as a key arrival.
Bayern out of Havertz race
Bayern Munich CEO Carl-Heinz Rummenigge also appears to have ruled them out of the running for Kai Havertz, according to the Standard.
When asked about the Bayer Leverkusen star, he said: “We have a really big financial challenge ahead of us. Even if we wanted the player, we could not finance it this year.” Chelsea have been rumoured to be interested in making a bid for Havertz, as Frank Lampard continues his rebuild ahead of next season.
United could hijack move for Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara
Liverpool are said to have emerged as potential suitors with Bayern Munich willing to sell Thiago for £31million. The Red Devils came close to signing Thiago Alcantara under David Moyes and now they could return for the reported Liverpool target. Earlier this year, it was reported that Ed Woodward had taken out a loan of £140million to help United land their top targets.
Man Utd & Arsenal monitoring Madrid outcast James
The Colombian has fallen way down the squad pecking order at Santiago Bernabeu, and the Blancos may look to cash in before he becomes a free agent next year. United and Arsenal could swoop for James' signature, but Napoli and Atletico Madrid are also interested in the 28-year-old.
Inter keen on Sanchez stay
Alexis Sanchez is currently on loan at Inter under Antonio Conte, a spell that has seen him return two goals and five assists in 13 league games. That has convinced Conte to extend Sanchez’s stay at the club, according to Sky Italia (via Sempre Inter).
United have already agreed to extend the player’s loan deal until the end of the Serie A season, but Inter are now looking at options beyond this current season. The report said it would cost Inter €10-15million to buy the player permanently and they are now considering a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
