A Premier League defender, especially a full-back's role has undergone a major cultural and positional overhaul in the last few years.

We already saw Luke Shaw scoring in Manchester United's win against Manchester City on Sunday to end Guardiola's 21-match winning streak.

Shaw has been involved in the most chances created by any defender across all the 20 teams in the Premier League, with 50 chances created for Manchester United in the 2020-21 season.
