France legend, Thierry Henry has snubbed former Barcelona team-mate, Lionel Messi when quizzed over who was the best player he played alongside during his career.
Henry played alongside the record six-time Ballon d'Or award winner at the Nou Camp for three years between 2007 and 2010 during which they won seven trophies including two LaLiga titles and a Champions League crown.
Despite Messi being hailed as arguably the greatest player in football history, Henry revealed that Dutch maestro, Dennis Bergkamp was the greatest player who he played alongside during his illustrious playing career.
While covering the Champions League game as a pundit on Tuesday night on CBS Sports, the shows presenter Kate Abdo asked Henry: “Who is the best player you played alongside?”
Henry instantly answered: “Dennis Bergkamp.”
Abdo then responded: “Not Messi?”
Henry reiterated his answer by stating: “Dennis Bergkamp. Is it quickfire? Dennis Bergkamp.”
The duo played for Arsenal between 1999 to 2006, a period during which the Gunners won two Premier League titles together, along with two FA Cups and helped Arsenal reach their first ever Champions League final in 2006.
2006 was also the year that the legendary Dutchman retired from the sport and Henry would eventually leave Arsenal to join the Catalan giants the following year.
