Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri will miss his side's two international friendly games in Bahrain and Belarus later this month.

Speaking about the same, Chhetri told AIFF's official website, "I was really looking forward to the two friendlies against Baharain and Belarus and it's a shame I'll be missing out. It's been a long, tough season and I've suffered a few small injuries that need time to heal. I will be doing all I can to recover in time for the preparatory camp in May."

Speaking about the selected squad, Chhetri said, "The potential this squad possesses is immense, and a lot of the lads are riding high on confidence on the back of good performances in the League season. I'm certain we'll put out best foot forward. I'm wishing the team all the luck."

The Indian football team's players along with the head coach Igor Stimac and coaching staff will meet up in Pune on March 10 for the preparatory camp starting the next day.

It is worth noting that the players who will be representing their clubs in the semi-final or later, the final of the Indian Super League season will join in the camp once their committment to the club ends.

The Indian football team will be flying to Bahrain on March 21 before facing the host nation on March 23 followed by the game against Belarus on March 26.

Both the above games will kick-off in India at 9:30pm Indian Standard Time.
