Sporting president Frederico Varandas believes Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Sporting "one day" as questions continue over his future at Juventus.

Ronaldo is in the final year of his contract with the Serie A giants, and no new deal has been agreed yet, with his agent Jorge Mendes suggesting that his client could be on his way out of the club.

Sporting president, Varandas, has admitted he is confident Ronaldo will make a return to Sporting in the future. Speaking to SIC, he said: “I believe that he will come back one day. Ronaldo has always supported Sporting. He was one of the first people to send me a message of congratulations for winning the league.”

Ronaldo's mother, Dolores Aveiro, previously admitted that she will try to get him back to Sporting CP, where his professional career began in 2002. “I’m going to speak to him and try to get him to come back,” she said back in May.

The Portugal international has also been touted with a return to Manchester United, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to boost his attacking options, despite the Red Devils tying down Edinson Cavani to a new deal.

AS has previously claimed that United have let Ronaldo know of their desire to re-sign him in the summer, with Solskjaer giving the 36-year-old assurances over how important he would be to the squad.
