India national team central defender, Sandesh Jhingan has rejoined his former club, ATK Mohun Bagan after mutually terminating his contract with Croatian side, HNK Sibenik.

Jhingan joined the top-tier Croatian club in August but did not play a single game for them after picking up an injury during his second training session with the team and what was even frustrating for him was that every time he was close to to making his much-awaited debut, the calf injury held him back.

The injury reoccured four times in the last three months which led to the 28-year-old to return back to India and consult his physiotherapist, Gigy George.

The defender was a vital cog in the ATKMB's defence when they made the final of the previous ISL season with this coming after he spent the the 2018/19 season on the sidelines while recovering from an ACL injury.

"Sandesh Jhingan is back, the story continues," the club posted on its Twitter handle, while ATKMB too released a statement: "He will play the rest of the season in green-and-maroon jersey, giving a big boost to the defence of (ATKMB coach) Juan Ferrando."

ATK Mohun Bagan won their first two matches under Ferrando, before dropping points in the last game. The club is placed third after nine rounds, in the 11-team standings.
