Indian football team's centre-back Sandesh Jhingan is reportedly looking at offers from Europe and is open to leaving ATK Mohun Bagan ahead of the 2021-22 Indian Super League season.
Jhingan joined the Kolkata based side just last season and became one of their best performers in defence alongside Tiri as they almost delivered the ISL title.
However, their partnership is now likely coming to an end as Marcus Mergulhao from the Times of India quote sources who claim that Jhingan has offers from clubs in Austria, Croatia and Greece.
Jhingan has reportedly always intend to play in Europe and he already has a clause with ATK Mohun Bagan which states that the club will let him leave if an offer from abroad comes about.
The former Kerala Blasters defender has been the best defender India has had in the last decade or so.
Rumours regarding Jhingan's exit from ATK Mohun Bagan gathered pace ahead of pre-season when he was missing from the club's AFC Cup and ISL pre-season camp in Kolkata last week.
Jhingan suffered a major ACL injury while playing for the national team in 2019 and was forced to miss the entirety of the 2019-20 season.
He made a swift recovery but then the pandemic delayed things further with regards to his comeback. Finally, he made his much awaited return in November last month and 13 months out of action. Jhingan's performances post his return from injury were so inspirational that he earned the AIFF Footballer of the Year Award for 2020.
