India national football team were held to another disappointing draw as the Blue Tigers shared spoils with Sri Lanka in their second match of the 2021 SAFF Championship.
India, who had played out a 1-1 draw with Bangladesh in their first match, delivered another disappointing performance as they failed to find the back of the net in the game, which ended in a goalless draw.
India dominated the lion's share of possession, but could not cut through the Sri Lankan defence as they would have hoped to. Liston Colaco did have an opportunity to put India ahead on 22 minutes, but his header from an Udanta Singh cross could not find the target.
India continued to dominate possession in the second-half, but were not able to convert that into goals. Second-half substitute Farukh Choudhary did put the ball in the back of the net for India in the 72nd minute, but that was ruled out as Subashish Bose was deemed to have fouled a player in the build-up to it.
Bose could have sealed the win for India with a late winner, but could not get his shot on target from close range, much to the disappointment of the Blue Tigers.
With this result, India sit third in the group, with two points from two matches. They face Nepal next, on October 10.
