FC Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has reportedly rejected the opportunity to sign Atalanta and Argentina defender Cristian Romero and Lille and Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches.

Romero and Sanches have been linked with a move away from their respective clubs this summer, and Barcelona was tipped as a potential destination for both players.

While Barcelona are desperately looking to slash the wages in order to balance the books and register new players and give new contract to Lionel Messi, the Catalan outfit are said to have been offered the chance to sign Romero and Sanches.

But, according to Gerard Romero, Koeman rejected the chance to sign the two players.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur could be Romero's next destination, with the Premier League side keen on signing the defender who was named Serie A defender of the year for 2020/21.

Sanches, who impressed for Lille last season and Portugal in the Euro 2020, has also attracted transfer interest, with a number of clubs linked with a move for him, and could be on the move ahead of next season.

Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be among clubs interested in signing the midfielder, with both sides looking to bolster their midfield department in the summer transfer window.
