La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid travel 5 miles north to the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano tonight to face arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Madrid Derby.

The visitors moved to the top of the league table last week after recording their seventh-straight win in the top-flight. Los Blancos, on the other hand, did well to bounce back from their two back-to-back defeats, first to Alaves at home and then Shakhtar in the Champions League to emerge victorious against Sevilla and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Atletico are the only unbeaten team in the Spanish top-flight heading into Matchday 13 but in derby games like this one, the form does not matter all that matters is how the players can step up to the occasion.

Team News

Zinedine Zidane will be without the services of Martin Odegaard, Eden Hazard, Mariano and Luka Jovic for the derby while he will have his entire defence available again for the first time in a long time this season.

Hazard suffered a muscle injury to his right thigh last week while Jovic also picked up a thigh injury. Modric is out with an undisclosed issue.

The visitors will be without Uruguayan centre-back Jose Gimenez, veteran striker Diego Costa and young left-back Manu Sanchez, who are all nursing injuries. Gimenez is out for the year due to a muscular injury. Costa suffered a blood clot and the fixture comes too soon for him. Sanchez is out with an undisclosed issue.

Fortunately, despite these absences, a lot of stars will be on the pitch tonight and should make for an interesting watch.

Predicted Lineups

Real Madrid: Courtois; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Mendy; Valverde , Casemiro, Kroos; Vinicius, Benzema, Asensio

Atletico Madrid: Oblak; Savic, Felipe, Hermoso; Trippier, Llorente, Koke, Saul, Carrasco; Suarez, Felix

Recent Form

Los Blancos have got back to winning ways having secured back-to-back wins against Sevilla and Monchengladbach, after their losses to Cadiz and Shakhtar. They have won five of their last 10 games, lost thrice and the remaining two have ended in a draw.

Los Rojiblancos have not lost a game in the La Liga this term and their only loss this campaign came at the hands of Bayern Munich in their Champions League in October.
They have the best defensive record across Europe's top five leagues and have shipped in just two goals. Jan Oblak has managed to kept a clean sheet in the last five outings.

Real Madrid have not looked sharp this term and injuries to key players like Sergio Ramos had meant that they had faced some defensive problems, which has led to them conceding 12 goals in 11 games in the league.

Atletico Madrid have played their trademark game this season and have built upon their solid defensive foundation to take the pole position in the league, despite playing a game less than their city rivals.

Atletico are unbeaten in the last 26 games in the league while Real have lost two of their three last home games, so we expect Los Colchoneros to maintain their unbeaten status and given their current form a win might also be on the cards for the visitors.

Prediction: Real Madrid 0-2 Atletico Madrid
