Real Madrid have reportedly ruled out a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Mbappe has been linked with a switch to a number of clubs as he inches closer to the end of his current PSG deal. The LaLiga giants have reportedly been considering making a bid for the Frenchman since before the start of the summer transfer window.

However, according to Cadena Ser, Madrid are set to back out after it was revealed that PSG are planning to offer Mbappe a huge contract extension with the striker's deal set to expire in 2022.

Marca revealed yesterday that Carlo Ancelotti's side were planning to make a move for the Frenchman after Euro 2020, and Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is planning to meet with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi next month to negotiate a big-money switch.

In order to facilitate any transfer, Madrid will have to offload a number of players, including Dani Ceballos, Luka Jovic, Gareth Bale, Raphael Varane, and more in the coming weeks.

RMC sports journalist Daniel Riolo claimed earlier this week that Mbappe has asked to leave PSG after "losing faith" in their project. During a recent radio interview, Riolo said: "I know that Mbappe asked to leave. However, it is complicated because first, you have to find a club that has the money to pay him. But the news is that he really does not want to stay. The player does not believe in Leonardo's project.

"If he does not leave this summer, it will be for free next season. And in Doha [PSG's owners] they do not want to hear about it. If Mbappe expresses this desire to leave, it means that he will have to find a club. Then PSG will also need to look for a replacement. But yes, the news is that Mbappe does not want to stay at PSG."

Despite the rumours, PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi has insisted that Mbappe will remain at the club and won't be leaving on a free transfer. He told L'Equipe: "I will be very clear: Kylian Mbappe is going to stay at PSG, we will never sell him, and he will never leave for free."
