Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) shared a picture of Virat Kohli playing football and took a sly dig at Lionel Messi and Barcelona suggesting that they need someone like Kohli to play with Messi for the upcoming season.
Messi was linked with multiple clubs amid his transfer saga, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain emerging as potential clubs to snap him up. However, Messi made a surprise u-turn last week, claiming he intends to continue at Barcelona until the end of next season.
And with new boss Ronald Koeman looking to shake up his squad, focus has shifted to players who might join the 33-year-old at Camp Nou.
RCB, who are currently training in Dubai ahead of the 2020 IPL campaign, tweeted a picture of their captain playing football with his teammates, with a rather funny caption as if to suggest that Messi needs someone like Kohli to bring the Catalan giants back to their glory days.
"We heard Messi was looking for some new teammates. #PlayBold #IPL2020 #WeAreChallengers," they said.
Like many other cricketers, Kohli also loves playing football as a part of his training drills. The prolific batsman is regarded as one of the strongest characters in modern-day cricket.
Barcelona will begin their next season at home against Villarreal on September 29 while RCB are yet to know about their IPL 2020 fixtures. The BCCI is most likely going to roll out the much-anticipated IPL 2020 schedule on Sunday.
