Manchester City have been linked with a number of high-profile strikers as Pep Guardiola looks to replace Sergio Aguero ahead of the 2021-22 season.

Aguero left City last month after a decade at the Etihad Stadium to join Barcelona on a free transfer. And the Premier League champions have found themselves eyeing moves for some the best forwards in football right, including Lionel Messi, Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, and Robert Lewandowski.

The Messi rumours seem to have died down of late, with reports claiming that the Argentine is set to sign a new contract at Barcelona. But City continue to be linked with Kane, Haaland, and Lewandowski, along with Southampton's Danny Ings and Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Here's a look at City's top striker targets this summer.

5. Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund)

Haaland has been linked with moves to a number of top European clubs, but Dortmund have remained insistent that the 20-year-old is not for sale this summer. However, the player's agent, Mino Raiola, has reportedly met with multiple clubs over a potential transfer. Chelsea are also in the market for Haaland, and according to recent reports, would be willing to meet Dortmund's asking price for the striker.

4. Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

Lewandowski has two years left on his current contract with Bayern and is yet to begin talks over signing a new one. Guardiola's side have turned their attention to the Poland captain Lewandowski instead, in a move that would see the striker reunite with Guardiola. The Spaniard worked with the 32-year-old during his three years at Bayern Munich, winning two Bundesliga titles and the German Cup. However, Real Madrid are also eyeing the Pole, who is reportedly open to a move this summer.

3. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton)

Calvert-Lewin thrived under Carlo Ancelotti, who departed for Real Madrid earlier this summer. The 24-year-old has been praised by Guardiola for his attacking threat, but would command a major transfer fee, as he is under contract at Goodison Park until 2025. The England international ticks all the boxes the City boss is looking for, and can be a long-term solution to their striker problem.

2. Danny Ings (Southampton)

Ings turned down a four-year contract offered by the Saints and could be on the move this summer. The prolific striker, despite his age, still has a lot to offer, and is at a stage in his career where he is looking to add a trophy or two to his cabinet. Back in March, former Tottenham forward Darren Bent suggested that Ings would score more goals for City than Gabriel Jesus, and with Jesus linked with a move to Juventus, Ings could very well find himself at the Etihad.

1. Harry Kane (Tottenham)

Kane still remains City's top target this summer, with the Tottenham forward having publicly admitted that he wants to move on in search of silverware. However, club chairman Daniel Levy will be adamant to not lose his best player, and Guardiola might have to consider making a big-money offer if he is keen to land the Three Lions skipper.
