Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski and Barcelona captain Lionel Messi are the best-performing footballers in the world right now, according to FootballCritic.

Messi won his sixth Ballon d'Or in 2019 and was in fine form last season, despite Barcelona's lacklustre season, and Lewandowski was a solid contender for the 2020 Ballon d'Or having fired Bayern to a treble and scoring a gargantuan 40+ goals in a single Bundesliga season.

FootballCritic compiled the rankings for the 50 best players using their algorithm, with Lewandowski and Messi finishing joint top of the pile with a rating of 99.

Atalanta's, Josep Ilicic ranked third with a rating of 98 tied with Neymar who came in fourth.
Cristiano Ronaldo ranked 7th with a rating of 94 while the PFA player of the year, Kevin de Bruyne, ranked 15th with a rating of 92.

Chelsea new boy Kai Havertz (91 rated), Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (89 rated), Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe (93 rated), and Liverpool's Sadio Mane (91 rated) also featured on the list.
