Raheem Sterling insists England are not afraid of facing the best teams after the Three Lions progressed to round-of-16 as group D winners.

England beat Czech Republic 1-0 in their final group game to top Group D, meaning they will face the team who finishes second in Group F. So, it'll be one of France, Germany, Portugal and Hungary that England will face in the round-of-16.

France, Germany and Portugal are among the Euro 2020 favourites, but Sterling, who scored his team's winner against both Croatia and Czech Republic, insisted England are not fazed by the prospect of facing the best teams.

"At some point you're going to have to face the best teams and that's the whole point of a tournament, to challenge yourself," Sterling told ITV Sport [via Daily Mail]. "Our objective from the beginning was to win the group. People were disappointed in the Scotland game but we didn't concede and that's the most important thing.

"We kept the ball better today, there was more attacking option and we got in the gaps really well and played some really good football at times."

Meanwhile, in the Group F, aka the 'group of death', Germany are currently occupying the second position, with France first, Portugal third and Hungary fourth. But, all that could change on matchday 3 when Germany host Hungary, and France face Portugal.
