Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly transfer-listed five players in order to trim down their wage bill after signing Lionel Messi earlier this summer.

The Ligue 1 giants brought in the Argentine in on a free transfer from Barcelona after they were unable to offer him a new contract ahead of the new season. Alongside Messi, PSG also signed Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi, and Sergio Ramos.

While the majority of the signings were free transfers, PSG spent a ton as Messi's contract alone is rumoured to be around €35m a season after tax. They have only been able to sell one player all summer - Mitchel Bakker to Bayer Leverkusen for €10m.

According to French publication Le Parisien via Diario AS, Julian Draxler, Pablo Sarabia, Rafinha Alcantara, Layvin Kurzawa, and Thilo Kehrer are the five names that Pochettino has decided that are surplus to requirements.

Messi is still the world's highest-paid footballer despite halving his wages at PSG, but still ranks well ahead of team-mate Neymar, who is on £31m a year.

When Mauricio Pochettino was asked about his incredible squad ahead of the new season, he said: "The aim is to make a top team from all these top players. It's an immense challenge that we are taking on with enthusiasm.

"We're going to have to work out how to all work together to create a dynamic in which each can find his role. If we don't play together and don't work hard enough, it'll be difficult to play as we want to. We'll have to have the constant feeling that we are a demanding and united team."
