Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has claimed that "all great players" want to join the club, but refused to comment on the transfer rumours surrounding Lionel Messi.
Messi is out of contract at Camp Nou and is yet to agree to a new deal. He has been linked with a switch to the Ligue 1 giants, as Barcelona continue to struggle financially. While Al-Khelaifi was respectful of the LaLiga side, he did not entirely dismiss the rumours.
“Messi is at the end of his contract and all clubs have the right to talk to him and recruit him for next season,” Al-Khelaifi told L’Equipe (h/t Marca). “What I can tell you, and you can believe me, is that all great players want to come to PSG.
“All – just to be clear, I’m not saying that to answer you on Messi. It’s not possible to sign them all, since we have great players too. And Messi is Messi, a fantastic player.”
It was reported last week that Barcelona are reportedly set to offer Lionel Messi a staggering 10-year contract worth £206million amid rumours that the Argentine could leave the club next month. According to the Mirror, the LaLiga giants have made a move to secure the future of their greatest ever player.
The report claims that Messi will earn around £206m over the next four years, and will join David Beckham's Inter Miami in 2023, where he will play for a further two seasons before hanging up his boots in 2025. The report adds that following the signing of his close friend Sergio Aguero, Messi is ready to put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at Camp Nou.
