Paris Saint-Germain sporting director, Leonardo has opened up on whether the French giants are the favourites to win their maiden Champions League title, claiming that, "There are several candidates".

The Ligue 1 side possesses a front three of Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé, so it comes as no surprise that they’re the odds on favorite to win the competition. Despite their squad, PSG's management are not letting the outside noise fill their head.

"There are several candidates, from Bayern Munich to Manchester City. The impact of the important players who have arrived has been tremendous. The players have reached zero. The only one we paid was Hakim," he said as per PSG talk.

“We have created a lot of anticipation, but in this position, we are comfortable. We can’t hide, but Paris is different; the context is different. Winning the Champions League here would be different. I’m not saying it would be better, but bringing football to the level of everything else in Paris would be a consecration.”

Messi who moved to France in the summer has not had the best of starts to life in Paris, managing only a solitary goal in his five appearances so far, he however did score his debut goal with a screamer against Manchester City to lead the club to a 2-0 win in the Champions League. It will be interesting to see whether the superstar can pick up his form and lead PSG to their maiden Champions League honour come the end of the season.
