Mauricio Pochettino has said he wants Neymar to return into action as quickly as he can. The PSG coach also rejected suggestions there is less pressure on Neymar to recover on schedule since the club have cruised to a 4-1 victory over FC Barcelona in the Champions League round-of-16 first-leg.
Neymar had picked up an injury during PSG's Coupe de France match against Caen. The Brazilian missed PSG's highly-anticipated Champions League first-leg clash with Barcelona as a result.
In Neymar's absence, Kylian Mbappe scored a stunning hat-trick as PSG inflicted a 4-1 win over Barcelona at Camp Nou. However, Neymar would likely be available for selection in time for PSG's second-leg against Barcelona.
Speaking ahead of PSG's Ligue One clash with AS Monaco, Pochettino was asked if their lead heading into the second-leg against Barcelona would mean there is less pressure on Neymar to recover on schedule. "Neymar's recovery is following the plans put in place and the strategy by our medical team," Pochettino said [via AS] in response to the question.
He added: "Whether it's one game, one competition or another, the priority is the player's well-being.
"We want players to get back as quickly as they can, but not linked to any specific game. The priority is for Neymar to make a good recovery and he will be back in the week when he is back."
