Former Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain star, Nicolas Anelka has slammed the French giants manager, Mauricio Pochettino over his tactics following their 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League.
Pochettino choose to start with the front three of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in attack and the Argentinian in particular has come in for major criticism from a number of quarters over his poor performance on the night.
Pochettino has tried to mould his side into a lethal counter-attacking outfit, but the front three became disconnected from the rest of their team-mates early on, and Anelka has not held back in his criticism of the club.
"With Messi, PSG cannot be a counter team. You cannot base the whole team on Kylian Mbappe. Today we demand from Neymar, but we can do the same with Messi. Since the beginning of the season it is not extraordinary either. There is a player who has six Ballons d'Or and finally is not so extraordinary," he said to RMC, post the game.
Despite the criticism aimed at Pochettino, under his stewardship PSG have been brilliant in the Ligue 1 this season, and are currently top of the league table with 37 points from 14 games - 11 ahead of second placed, Nice.
