Tottenham Hotspur start their 2021/22 Premier League campaign when they host defending champions, Manchester City on Sunday, 15 August at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a game that the biggest one of the weekend.

Tottenham are coming into this game with a new manager leading them and question marks on whether their star striker, Harry Kane will remain at the club while City have strengthened their side by spending £100million on Jack Grealish.

Here, we take a look at the three things to watch out for in the game.

1. Will Kane play a part in the game?

The future of Harry Kane at Spurs has been a source of speculation ever since the striker himself revealed that he is looking for a new challenge amid repeated links to City.

The 28-year-old caused quite a stir when he failed to report to the pre-season training camp as expected, and while he eventually returned - it is unlikely that he will be involved due to lack of match-fitness.

The England skipper is vital if Tottenham are to excel on the pitch, and he will just be needed if the side find themselves in a fix against Pep Guardiola's well oiled machine.

2. Injuries to top players could hurt City

City come into the game with a number of players missing due to injury issues and lack of match-fitness with Guardiola without two key players in Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden in midfield.

This could mean that new signing, Jack Grealish will be handed his debut, though with Gabriel Jesus yet to shine on a consistent basis - their lack of a prolific striker could hurt them on early in the season.

3. Can Alli rediscover his form?

Dele Alli is expected to be given a start by Nuno Espirito Santo after being given a run of games during pre-season, and it is one which the midfielder will need to grab with both hands.

The 25-year-old has been poor over the past two seasons, and he has all the tools to rediscover the form that propelled him to becoming one of the best in the league in the recent past.
