2021 is coming to an end and it is the right time to revisit which players have been the best performers of the Premier League in the past 12 months.

Today, we bring you 8 incredible performers in the English top division from January to December of 2021.

Premier League's best players of 2021:

1. Mohamed Salah

No surprises here.

Mohamed Salah continues to lead Liverpool in the only way he knows, scoring goals!

After a trophyless last season, Liverpool made an indifferent start to the 2021-22 campaign and Salah was the only shining light in their team as he continues to ensure the Reds stay relevant in the title race this season.

To put it all into perspective, only Mo Salah has crossed 15 Premier League goals in 2021, a total of 23 in 38 games in the calendar year.

2. Ilkay Gundogan

His 14 goals in 2021 meant he was the third-highest goalscorer in the Premier League for the year.

The most amazing part about this stat is that all these goals were cool/calm finishes that ensured Manchester City closed down games well.

His goals against Tottenham and Liverpool particularly stood out in THAT incredible scoring run he had.

3. Joao Cancelo

By January 2020, it wasn't clear if Cancelo would be making it big at Manchester City.

By the end of 2021, he is easily one of the best full-backs in the league.

His amazing performances led him to a spot in the PFA Team of the Year.

4. Ruben Dias

Since Ruben Dias has made the move to Manchester City, their defence record has been absolutely amazing.

Dias deserves most of the credit for marshalling City's defence.

Moreover, he came up with some crucial goals in City's road to the Premier League title in the 2020-21 season, which is enough to get him on to this list.

5. Edouard Mendy

The way Edouard Mendy kept for Chelsea in their 2020-21 UEFA Champions League winning campaign itself makes him eligible for this list.

Moreover, Mendy kept clean sheets in half of the games he played for Chelsea in the calendar year 2021. Quite astonishing!

6. Bernardo Silva

With Kevin De Bruyne suffering a long term injury for Manchester City, up stepped Bernardo Silva, playing in a plethora of positions for Pep Guardiola's side.

His immense contribution to City's cause in 2021 cannot be overlooked.

7. Antonio Rudiger

Rudiger did not play a full Premier League game for Chelsea until November 2020.

As soon as Thomas Tuchel was appointed, Rudiger was given his chance and he ensured he made full use of it.

His contribution towards Chelsea winning the UEFA Champions League last season cannot be undermined.

8. Youri Tielemans

Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans was one of the major reasons why Leicester City claimed the FA Cup trophy in the first half of 2021.

He has carried his incredible form throughout the ongoing season too and so deserves to be in this list.
