The 13th Matchday of The English Premier League is already upon us and there are loads of midweek fixtures to look forward to before the teams clash again over the weekend. All eyes will be at Anfield, where two top-seeded teams in Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will fight it out in a game that might prove pivotal in the early stages of the title race.

Will we finally get a clear leader after the top-of-the-table showdown at Anfield?

Here is our rundown of all the action that awaits us in the Premier League Matchday 13:

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea

The midweek Matchday will get underway with fifth-placed Chelsea travelling to Central England to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium tonight.

Last Results:

Wolves and Chelsea suffered 1-0 defeats in their previous outings, with the hosts being beaten by Aston Villa in the last few seconds of the game with Anwar El Ghazi scoring an injury-time penalty.
The Blues too conceded from the penalty spot against Everton and dropped out of the top four as a result.

Head-to-Head:

Across all competitions, the two sides have squared off on 109 occasions. Chelsea lead the head-to-head record 43-39, while the remaining 27 games have ended in a draw. Last season Chelsea managed to secure the league double over Wolves with 7-2 aggregate.

What This Could Mean:

Wolves have lost two games in a row now but a top 10 spot in still within grabs for them. They'll retain their 13th-place in standings even if they end up dropping points at home. The Everton game was just a minor bump in Chelsea's great start of the campaign and a win would put them back in contention for a top-four slot, but they need at least a draw to retain their fifth position in the standings.

Injuries and Suspensions:

Wolves: Jonny, Raul Jimenez, Joao Moutinho
Chelsea: Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech

Player to Watch:

Timo Werner - The German striker had a slow start to his career with the London club, but he still has scored seven goals across all competitions. It is expected that manager Frank Lampard will start him in on the flanks with Giroud taking the No.9 spot, so he will get an opportunity to show off his pace and ability to cut in and score here.

Prediction: 0-2 win to Chelsea

Manchester City vs West Bromwich Albion

After keeping a clean sheet in the Manchester derby last time around, Manchester City welcome 19th-placed West Bromwich Albion to the Etihad Stadium tonight in a fixture that should end in a win for Pep Guardiola's men.

Last Results:

The Cityzens were held to a goalless draw by rivals Manchester United at the Old Trafford last weekend but on the plus side, they kept yet another clean sheet in the top-flight.

West Brom suffered a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United after they just conceded 17 seconds into the game and later Darnell Furlong's equalizer was cancelled out by Dwight Gayle's 82nd-minute winner.

Head-to-Head:

The two clubs have met 154 times across all competitions and as one would expect the hosts have a superior record in the fixture. City have won 71 times but have also lost a substantial amount of games, 54. Both sides have played out draws on 29 occasions.

What This Could Mean:

The best City can hope from this fixture is the sixth place in the standings, given all team above them drop points but even a draw should be enough for them to stay in the top 10.

West Brom have just one win to their name this season and though they won't drop any lower than the 19th-place after this midweek fixture they need a win to move into the safe zone.

Injuries and Suspensions:

City: Eric Garcia, Oleksandr Zinchenko

West Brom: Conor Townsend, Hal Robson-Kanu, Kyle Bartley, Matheus Pereira,

Player to Watch:

Kevin De Bruyne - The Belgian midfielder was one of the best players in the rather dull Manchester derby. He will be looking to get back to scoring ways in the Premier League, given that all his goals so far this term have come from the penalty spot. He has been finding his teammates with ease and has six assists to his name so far.

Prediction: 3-0 win to Manchester City

Arsenal vs Southampton

Arsenal host the high-flying Southampton side in their upcoming Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow night.

Last Results:

Arsenal suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Burnley last time around, which was their third defeat on the spin in the Premier League.

The Saints recorded a comfortable 3-0 win at home against Sheffield United and maintained their top-four status.

Head-to-Head:

This will be the 100th meeting between the two sides in competitive fixtures and in their 99 meetings so far The Gunners have the upper hand and lead Southampton 51-21. The two sides have shared the spoils on 27 occasions so far, including their last meeting at the Emirates last season.

What This Could Mean:

Arsenal can only hope for a move from the 15th-place to 14th even if they get a favourable result here. Any other outcome than a win will keep them at the same position in the standings.

Southampton are just two points behind leaders Tottenham and a win here would put them at the top of the table, albeit temporarily. They can't afford to drop points, as it would mean losing their top-four spot.

Injuries and Suspensions:

Arsenal: David Luiz, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Hector Bellerin, Gabriel Martinelli, Sead Kolasinac

Southampton
: None

Player to Watch:

Danny Ings - The former Liverpool striker marked his return to action from a lengthy injury spell with a goal last week and also picked up assist against Sheffield. As the team's top scorer in the league, he is expected to shine against Arsenal.

Prediction: 0-2 win for Southampton

Leicester City vs Everton

Third-placed Leicester City welcome Everton to the King Power Stadium, in the second of the six games scheduled to take place on Wednesday night.

Last Results:

Leicester recorded their second win in a row in their previous outing as they made quick work of Brighton at home.

The Toffees secured a narrow 1-0 win over Chelsea to keep themselves in the top 10 on Sunday.

Head-to-Head:

In their 113 meetings so far the record is more or less even, with Everton edging ahead with 43 wins as compared to Leicester's 38. 32 meetings between the sides have produced inconclusive results.

What This Could Mean:

The Foxes are third in the standings with 24 points and could go atop the table if the meeting between two top sides at the Anfield ends in a stalemate.

A top-four spot is still not within Everton's reach but if they avoid a loss here they will retain their top 10 status.

Injuries and Suspensions:

Leicester: Daniel Amartey, Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu, Ricardo Pereira

Everton: Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Lucas Digne, Fabian Delph, Robin Olsen

Player to Watch:

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - The English striker is remained the top-scoring player in the Premier League after scoring in his previous outing. He has scored 11 goals in the competition so far and probably the only in-form player for the home side. They'll again be looking at their talisman to provide some spark in the final third in this crucial fixture.

Prediction: 2-1 win for Leicester City

Leeds United vs Newcastle United

Leeds United take on Newcastle United at the Elland Road on Wednesday night.

Last Result:

Leeds squandered their early lead against West Ham in last week's opener and conceded am 80th-minute goal to lose 2-1 to The Hammers.

Newcastle United secured their second win on the trot against West Brom last time around.

Head-to-Head:

The two sides have locked horns 94 times across all competitions and both sides are pretty much evenly matched in the fixture. Newcastle have a slight 39-37 advantage while 18 games have ended in a draw.

What This Could Mean:

The hosts could move near the top 10 with a win here, as the teams in the mid-table are all separated by a point or two. A loss could drop them to the 15th place.

The Magpies could move into the top 10 with a win here and would be hoping to build on their last two wins to at least rise as high as 9th in the standings.

Injuries and Suspensions:

Leeds: Diego Llorente, Adam Forshaw, Gaetano Berardi, Robin Koch

Newcastle: Martin Dubravka, Ryan Fraser, Paul Dummett, Allan Saint-Maximin, Jamaal Lascelles

Player to Watch:

Callum Wilson - The English striker marked his return from an injury with an assist and a goal in the win over Palace. Though he drew a blank against West Brom he has been the best player at St. James' Park this term and has scored 7 times and assisted two goals in his 10 appearances, which is 70% of all goals scored by Steve Bruce's team. He is expected to be on target yet again.

Prediction: 1-3 win for Newcastle United

Fulham vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Two sides from the bottom quarter of the table in Fulham and Brighton are set to clash at the Craven Cottage on Wednesday night.

Last Result:

Fulham bravely held reigning champions, Liverpool, to a 1-1 draw at the Craven Cottage in their last outing while Brighton suffered their second loss in a row at Leicester.

Head-to-Head:

The fixture has rarely produced stalemates and since their first meeting nine decades ago only five games have ended in a draw. These sides have met 50 times so far and the head-to-head record is very even, with a slight 23-22 advantage to Fulham.

What This Could Mean:

The hosts find themselves in the relegation zone but a win against 16th-placed Brighton would take them out of the drop zone for now.
The Seagulls need at least a draw to keep themselves in a safe zone.

Injuries and Suspensions:

Fulham: Kenny Tete, Terence Kongolo, Aleksandar Mitrovic

Brighton: Florin Andone, Jose Izquierdo

Player to Watch:

Pascal Gross - The visitors' last two goals have come from the penalty spot taken by Gross. The German midfielder will probably be the most creative player on the pitch in the game and we can expect him to create some chances for his side against Fulham who've shipped in 22 goals so far.

Prediction: 1-1

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

In one of the most anticipated fixtures of the month, second-placed Liverpool welcome league leaders Tottenham to Anfield on Wednesday night. Both teams are tied for points but Jose Mourinho's side edged ahead on goal difference.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 65 games at Anfield, so Mourinho has his work cut out for him if he is to keep Spurs at the top of the table.

Last Result:

Interestingly, both sides dropped points in their previous outings and both their games ended in 1-1 draw. Spurs were held by London rivals Crystal Palace while The Reds were held to a draw by 18th-placed Fulham.

Head-to-Head:

The two iconic English clubs have locked horns 175 times across all competitions. The Reds have won almost half of their meetings with 85 wins to their name. Spurs have 48 wins to their name but Liverpool's dominance has also continued in recent fixtures and Klopp's men are on a six-game winning streak across all competitions against them.

What This Could Mean:

The winner of the game will become the undisputed table topper by the end of the Matchday. If the game ends in a draw and Leicester win, they will lead the standings by a point.

The loser might see themselves dropping out of the top four, as Leicester, Southampton and Chelsea all have kinder fixtures.

Injuries and Suspensions:

Liverpool: Alisson, Joe Gomez, Xherdan Shaqiri, James Milner, Virgil van Dijk, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota

Spurs: Erik Lamela

Player to Watch:

Harry Kane - The striker has been in incredible form this season and has delivered in key fixtures for the club, including a goal in the North London derby. He now has the most goal involvements in the league this season, with 9 goals and 10 assists and would be hoping to deliver a match-winning performance in the biggest game of their top-flight campaign this season.

Prediction: 1-1

West Ham United vs Crystal Palace

In Wednesday's last game West Ham United invite Crystal Palace to the Londn Stadium in a lesser known London derby.

Last Result:

The Hammers recorded their fourth win in five games after they overcame Leeds in their previous outing.

The Eagles held their ground against Spurs last time around and picked up a point from their 1-1 draw at the Selhurst Park Stadium.

Head-to-Head:

In their 60 meetings across all competitions the hosts have picked up the three points 23 times as opposed to Palace who have 16 wins in the fixture. 21 games have ended in a draw.

What This Could Mean:

The hosts' four wins in their last five outings have placed them sixth in the standings and a win could put them in contention for a European qualification spot.

Palace find themselves in the middle of the table and nothing but a win can pull them back in the top 10.

Injuries and Suspensions:

West Ham: Arthur Masuaku, Mikhail Antonio

Palace: Tyrick Mitchell, Nathan Ferguson, Wayne Hennessey, Connor Wickham, Martin Kelly

Player to Watch:

Wilfred Zaha - The player has made a strong comeback from an injury spell and holds the key for creating chances for his side. His pace and skills could cause problems for West Ham defenders.

Prediction: 1-1

Aston Villa vs Burnley

In Thursday's first game Aston Villa are set to take on Burnley at the Villa Park. The hosts have played two games less than most of their opponents, so a win would go a long way in ensuring a better position in the standings later on.

Last Result:

Villa secured a dramatic win deep in the injury time last time around, thanks to a penalty but lost midfielder Douglas Luiz to a red card.
Burnley secured a much-needed win against 10-men Arsenal and remained out of the drop zone.

Head-to-Head:

The two clubs have squared off 98 times across all competitions. The hosts have a comfortable 51-40 lead in the head-to-head record while 27 games have ended in a draw.

What This Could Mean:

The hosts are currently in the 10th position and need to secure a win to remain in the top 10.
The Clarets will remain out of the drop zone with a win but dropping points here could send them into the bottom three at least until Sunday.

Injuries and Suspensions:

Villa: Bjorn Engels, Thomas Heaton, Kortney Hause, Keinan Davis, Wesley, Hassan, Douglas Luiz, Matty Cash

Burnley: Jack Cork, Johann Berg Gudmundsson

Player to Watch:

Jack Grealish - Aston Villa have been dependent on their 25-year-old midfielder a lot this season. Grealish has scored five times and has set up five goals for his teammates as well in 10 appearances. He seems to have found his form this season and would be looking to inspire his side secure back-to-back wins against The Clarets on Thursday.

Prediction: 2-0 win for Villa

Sheffield United vs Manchester United

The last game of this midweek Premier League matchday will see the bottom-placed Sheffield United welcome Manchester United to the Bramall Lane on Thursday night.

Last Result:

Sheffield's bad run of form in the Premier League fixtures continued as they lost their 7th game in a row in their previous outing against Southampton.

The Red Devils held Manchester City to a goalless draw at the Old Trafford which brought their four-game winning streak in the league to an end.

Head-to-Head:

The two sides have crossed paths 95 times across all competitions so far. Manchester United lead 45-34 in terms of wins, as 16 meetings in the fixture have ended in a draw. The visitors are unbeaten in their last nine encounters with the hosts.

What This Could Mean:

Even after a win here, the hosts would still remain in the bottom three but it would go a long way in giving them a much need boost.

Manchester United can't move into the top four even after a win but in a tightly-packed mid-table, need a win to keep themselves ahead of the pack.

Injuries and Suspensions:

Sheffield: Oliver McBurnie, Jack O'Connell, Kean Bryan

Manchester United: Phil Jones

Player to Watch:

Bruno Fernandes - The Portuguese midfielder has delivered one match-winning performance after the other for United this season and has seven goals and four assists to his name already this season. City managed to keep him quiet and as a result, United's attack suffered. We expect him to unleash his full potential against the bottom-placed side.
