Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has warned his players Manchester United have 'one of the best players in history' in Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the Manchester derby.

The two Manchester sides clash in the Premier League on Saturday, as Man City look to return to winning ways in the English top-flight following their shock defeat to Crystal Palace on matchweek 10.

Their opponents on Saturday, Man Utd, are not in the best of forms, but following their humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool, the Red Devils cruised to a 3-0 win over Tottenham in the Premier League before Ronaldo bagged a brace to salvage a point for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in their 2-2 draw with Atalanta earlier this week.

Ronaldo is in impressive form coming into the Manchester derby, and Guardiola, speaking after Man City beat Club Brugge in Champions League, warned his side they must stop Ronaldo on Saturday to beat Man Utd.

"I didn't see the United match [against Atalanta], I'm going to analyse and to see what they are so I know how good they are," said Guardiola in his post-match press conference [via Manchester Evening News]. "We saw it last season. They have one of the best players in history, a guy who can be a scoring machine."

Meanwhile, Man City currently sit third in the Premier League points table, while Man United are fifth, with three points behind Guardiola's side.
