Former Juventus defender, Andrea Barzagli claims that Paulo Dybala has "exceptional talent", but that the Argentina star needs to take the next step at Turin and become the "leader" of the Bianconeri squad.
Dybala was the focal point in Juventus' opening day draw against Udinese of the 2021/22 season, scoring the club's first goal of the season, while also providing the assist for Juan Cuadrado to score their second goal.
While all the attention remains on Cristiano Ronaldo and whether he will remain at Turin,
Barzagli believes that it is time for the 27-year-old to take the next step and become a leader at the club.
“Paulo is a guy who needs total confidence. He has shown that he has exceptional talent. The next step he must take is to take over Juventus and be a leader. In that case he goes from being a talented player to a top player," he said to DAZN via JuveNews.
Dybala who joined Juventus from Palermo in 2015, has gone on to make 255 appearances for the club, scoring 101 goals and playing a key role in their five Serie A title triumphs and four Coppa Italia trophy wins.
The attacking star's contract runs down in the summer of 2022, but it is expected that he will pen a new deal with the club as the management are extremely keen to build the side around him as they look to challenge for trophies.
