Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Manchester United remain in talks with Paul Pogba over a new contract amid intense transfer speculation.

Pogba is in the final 12 months of his deal at Old Trafford and has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, who are reportedly confident of landing the midfielder for half of the £89m he cost United in 2016.

According to The Telegraph, the Ligue 1 giants believe they can lure Pogba to France for just £43m, and have been negotiating with his agent, Mino Raiola, over a potential move. However, Solskjaer admitted that talks were ongoing between Pogba and the club, and that the Frenchman was looking forward to the next season with the Red Devils.

"The talks are ongoing between Paul's representatives and the club's representatives," Solskjaer said. "All that I've ever heard with Paul is he's looking forward to the season. There's always speculation about Paul, the talks between Paul and his representatives, I'm not in the detail of every single one, I've got nothing to say really, about that.

"Whenever he has been here, he has been so professional, he's always ready to give everything for the team and that will be the case if Paul stays here, or he might stay for even longer. Paul is a very good player. We've seen Paul at his best, Paul knows what we feel about it and I've enjoyed my time working with him and hopefully we can continue working together."

Newly-signed PSG player Georginio Wijnaldum has admitted he would love to play alongside Pogba at the Parc des Princes, and described the United midfielder as "one of the best in the world".

“I would love to have Pogba with us,” Wijnaldum told RMC Sport. “He’s fantastic. I have played against him several times – what a player! If you ask any player from another team if he would like Pogba to join him, everyone will say yes because he is an extraordinary player, full of qualities."
